I am so pissed off. I literally had a bag of three cameras… my dslr, my point and shoot, and my waterproof point and shoot, and I brought them downstairs this morning, with the intention of bringing them, but in the craziness of leaving the house and preparing for our trip, I literally forgot the bag, it’s probably still sitting at the foot of the steps and my cats are probably rubbing against it and marking it with their scents.
So for our road trip, I now have NO camera… I mean I have my cell phone, and an iPad, and yes those take pictures, but they don’t take pictures as well as a real camera :/ So I apologize in advance for the quality of all the pics accompanying this road trip.
Our flights to NJ were fine. Yeah, we barely made the Texas one, we totally made it, we weren’t late or anything, but we got there just as the plane was boarding, so there was no time for Starbucks or breakfast or anything.
We flew into Missouri. I finished one book on that plane ride, Talking As Fast As I Can by Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls Fame and started the newest book in The Others series by Anne Bishop, which is an amazing fantasy series and I highly recommend it. I listened to music on my waterproof iPad shuffle, which not only works under up to 200 feet of water, but also makes for a nifty little music player on flights. I ate honey roasted peanuts and drank apple juice.
We had a 1.5 hr layover in MO, they had a Starbucks there, but the line was huge and I think I would’ve been waiting on it for the entire 1.5 hr layover,so instead I went with Dunkin Donuts, the flight from MO to Newark was fine, I read some of A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab.
We landed, but from the second we landed until now, we were busy. We visited my nana, my grandmother on my mom’s side, and she gave us a lot of dishes. Then we had dinner with my other grandma, my dad’s mom. We have inherited so many dishes now and even though the car we inherited is a decent size, I still have no idea how we’re going to fit everything into the car tomorrow. Regardless, it was nice to spend time with family and see my dad.
I am also happy to report that my FAVORITE EVER RASH GUARD that I left in NJ after the cruise with Jackie in August, was hanging in my closet and I am so happy to have it back, and that will be great for Wisconsin Dells. OH and my missing high school yearbook from my sophomore year was on my bookshelf, so I can bring that back home to Texas and complete my yearbook collection. And Justin was happy to find random Magic the Gathering common cards left over from my obsession with Inistrad that he’s going to donate to his nerd herd at his high school. so win win for all.
Since this trip to NJ is such a whirlwind, I won’t have time to see any of my friends from home, we’re literally leaving as soon as we wake up and heading to Ohio [Cannot wait to drive through PA and stop at Wawa and Sheetz]. So that sucks, but it’s not like I can’t come back or they can’t visit me sometime [not that any of them ever want to visit me in Texas, and yes NJ friends if you’re reading this. I am trying to guilt trip you]
It’s a brisk 29 degrees with a 0 degree windchill in NJ, but I sort of like it, I miss this sort of weather in Texas, since Houston’s winter is maybe one day of 40 degree weather, if we’re lucky [though I remember like three years ago, there was an ice storm and it was like 20 degrees and Houston literally shut down]… I mean, at least when it’s cold, you can always put more layers on, but when it’s hot, you can’t really take your clothes off. at least not in public places.
NJ also got a bit of a snow dusting, last night, so the ground was covered in 2 inches of fluffy snow, and it was nice to see clean and pretty snow.
Anyhow not much going on today. I plan to go to bed soon since I woke up at 4:30 in the morning and I am beat… oh and tonight is Daylight Savings Time, so I’ll be even more dead tomorrow.
Anyhow, tomorrow starts the first REAL day of Road Trip 2k17,sad about the lack of cameras, but looking forward to seeing more of the US!
Talk to y’all soon
